Jerry Colangelo has changed the pro sports landscape in Phoenix since the late 1960s when the NBA Suns took root.

His vision for the Valley didn’t end with the Suns and the Diamondbacks, who won the World Series championship in 2001.

Once Grand Canyon University President Brian Mueller got Colangelo on board, that became the game changer, moving the Antelopes from an NCAA Division II obscurity to a Division I program that made history last week with its first WAC Tournament championship and automatic NCAA Tournament berth.
